I agree with getting out of your comfort zone, and I think it's great for participants to experience other instructors, and for anyone teaching to have the chance to try other people's classes as well.
I always start and end my yoga sessions the same way, (very limbering and meditative) but change the middle. In this way, people know what to expect at first, and honor the traditional yoga, while finding the changing of some poses a chance to get out of their comfort zone.

I just saw your updates. So wonderful to read...I have felt that way about people ignoring others on crutches, in wheelchairs, etc. When I was first getting back into teaching 14 years ago, I worked as a 1-1 with a girl with cerebral palsey. My eyes were opened further than ever regarding people's rudeness, or just inattentiveness to her situation. I, too, developed a great deal more patience than I had ever had in the past. Allison, I'm glad your foot is healing. Namaste'.

I've met teachers likes this, and I couldn't agree with you more. It's not just the heavier students that become unmotivated, everyone does, except that one student who can actually keep up. I applaud your way of teaching.

Thanks, Lynn. My bruises have already turned from nasty purple to very unattractive yellow-green, and I was able to teach my next yoga class with very few modifications and just lots of stiffness the next day.

Take care!

Time is always against us, but the older I get the more I realize that we can make time for the things that matter to us. There are always ways to juggle our priorities and become more organized. It's just hard to find the time to get to that point, and it's really easy to become overwhelmed.

Even that 10 mintues a day of meditation can make such a huge difference, and I find it's almost better to do it toward the end of the day--especially for members of families. Then you can help rid your mind of some of the stresses of the day without transferring them to loved ones.

Thanks for taking the time to comment! :)
